Sell More Jewelry in November & December

November 10, 2009 – 2:54 pm

I am not much for segways – here is some information I hope you will find useful i marketing your jewelry and buying your stock.

1) Your area has a bunch of craft shows, festivals and church bazaars coming up in November and December. Festivalnet.com is a great resource to identify these markets. You can easily find all the events you can sell within a 25 mile radius of your home or in your entire state in seconds.

2) Once you are our customer (after placing first order), login to your account on Wholesalegemshop.com and you can access 2 very useful features to help with your sales whether you have a retail store, do home parties or craft shows.

* Virtual Website – allows you to setup a ‘virtual’ store on my server where you specify the prices and customize with your business info (no link back to wholesalegemshop.com). Great way to market jewelry to your friends via email.

* Customized catalog you can print on your own printer. Your logo, business name, prices. You can also save it as a pdf and print it professionally at Staples, etc. Bring this to your store/ event if you want to take additional orders from customers on the fly. I actually specially process all my photos on a white background so that you can print the catalog easier (save valuable ink!).

What Should I Buy? How Much? Markup??

You may very well already know this information but I have a lot of customers who are just getting started…

If you are selling person-to-person, you need a pretty large selection of products to keep everyone interested. Not that you need to have $1000’s in jewelry but you should have variety and display what you have aesthetically, AND spread it out so it takes up as much space as  possible. A good way to accomplish this is to mix smaller higher priced items (such as silver/ gold jewelry) with inexpensive items (like textiles like bags, scarves, etc.) on the table. Always plan to carry a mix of price-points, with 60-70% mid range items that you can retail for $15-$20, about 15% lower end ($2-$8 retail price points) and 15% high end ($25-$50+). Too much in the high end will mean much fewer sales, too many lower priced items means lower $ sales volume. You can actually search our site by $ amount ($1 Wholesale Jewelry, $2 Wholesale Jewelry, $3 Wholesale Jewelry, $4 Wholesale Jewelry, etc)

How much should you mark it up? At least two times. Three times is great, but probably not practical for all items. Typically smaller items you can afford to markup 3 times, larger more expensive items closer to 2 times.

Do you need recommendations about what to buy and want to place an order really fast? Look at the “Best Selling Lots” category on left side of site. Example: $100 Wholesale Earring Lot ready to order. I made a bunch of custom lots based on our best-selling stones/ designs and price-points. Makes our normal ordering system even simpler and faster!

Still trying to figure out this Social Networking stuff. so I started a Wholesalegemshop.com Facebook Page. When you have a chance signup as a “fan” and you’ll get some exclusive offers in the near future.

Well, have a great week. Yesterday was a big day for me (sniff!) I just turned (sniff!) 40!!!
